Human Capital Constraints, Spatial Dependence, and Regionalization in Bolivia: A Spatial Clustering Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
Using a novel dataset, this article studies the spatial distribution of human capital constraints across 339 municipalities in Bolivia. In particular, five are evaluated: chronic malnutrition children, non-Spanish speaking population, secondary dropout rate males, rates females, and inequality years education. Through lens principal components, dependence, regionalization methods, endogenously classified according to their similarity geographical location. Results from dependence analysis indicate specific location significant hot spots (high-value clusters) cold (low-value clusters). A indicates that Bolivia can be regionalized into seven or eight regions. The concludes discussing potential complementary these two analyses usefulness identifying policy priorities.

15 صفحه اولSpatial dependence-based fuzzy regression clustering
Fuzzy clustering based regression analysis is a novel hybrid approach to capture the linear structure while considering the classification structure of the measurement. Using the concept that weights provided via the fuzzy degree of clustering, some regression models have been proposed in literature. In these models, membership values derived from clustering or some weights obtained from geomet...
متن کاملDiscussion: Clustering Random Curves Under Spatial Dependence
We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a functional approach to clustering of spatial-temporal data. This leads us to suggest an alternative methodology which allows cluster memberships to vary over both temporal and spacial domains. One advantage of our approach is that it can easily incorporate time-varying covariates. A fitting algorithm is developed and we provide a simple simulatio...
متن کاملGeo-Spatial Clustering with User-Specified Constraints
Capturing application semantics and allowing a human analyst to express his focus in mining have been the motivation for several recent studies on constrained mining. In this paper, we introduce and study the problem of constrained clustering| nding clusters that satisfy certain user-speci ed constraints. We argue that this problem arises naturally in practice. Two types of constraints are disc...
متن کاملClustering Spatial Data when Facing Physical Constraints
Clustering spatial data is a well-known problem that has been extensively studied to find hidden patterns or meaningful sub-groups and has many applications such as satellite imagery, geographic information systems, medical image analysis, etc. Although many methods have been proposed in the literature, very few have considered constraints such that physical obstacles and bridges linking cluste...
